Switching brands didn't work for me started smoking menthols at 15-16. Changed to non menthol at around 20 something...53 and still smoking non menthol. Im not afraid to quit. I think at times i just didn't right against the urge because it's easy to ask someone for a cigarette, when i leave them at home or just don't have any

Erickson's techniques, all hypnosis techniques, depend on focus - removing extraneous events and stimuli surrounding a subject to isolate and focus, even for a moment. As a practitioner since 1959 and a student of Erickon's abstracts at university, I've found that any technique that accomplishes focus "works". As Erickson demonstrated, words aren't necessary. Focus can be achieved through any of the senses. I think an effective range of techniques develops from the practitioner's personality. I've use aggressive techniques as well as subtle ones, I've used scents as well as tactile, sight, and even taste to achieve that moment of focus that is all that is necessary to induce a hypnotic state. Working with government interrogators as well as civilian "influencers has demonstrated a wide range of techniques from chemical to music that achieve focus. Long-time practitioners who achieve consistent success will evolve a range of techniques to suit their personalities. You can't copy Erickson. You can only use his results as examples of his personal achievements. While learning a range of techniques can be useful, consistent effective results will evolve through your personality. Hypnosis is ancient and practiced successfully by people who had no knowledge of Erickson, his handshake, confusion technique, or any of his methodology. They understood focus. Interesting examples can be found in the fakirs of India and the Roma of Europe, both exceptional at hypnosis.

Sometimes you get someone that is not willing to share their story or don't even accept yet they have a problem

I've lost count how many videos I've collected over the last 3 days on quitting smoking. Here's what I've learned in that time about the battle I'm engaged in with addiction to smoking. The addiction knows me better than I do. It's built quite a house in my brain. I found that it's been helpful to give the addiction a name. Doing this has given me a very distinct visual image that feels more tangable, more real. And in that, I have been able to see the addiction as a physical enemy that I can defeat and evict from my brain.
